About Peter Sklar
Long-time Instructor of the Performing Arts
A well-respected talent scout and educator, Peter Sklar holds a master's degree in education from Harvard University and studied concert piano at The Juilliard School. During his graduate studies, he volunteered with several Boston youth organizations and implemented a youth theater program. Through this outreach, Peter Sklar began to realize that many of his students were struggling with health and happiness-related problems. Building upon this experience, he began coaching young performers in New York City in the 1980s.
Over the years, Peter Sklar’s training philosophy grew and evolved as he learned that the happiest children were also the most successful. Since this time, he has worked tirelessly to educate aspiring young entertainment professionals about the importance of truly taking care of themselves. To meet this goal, he developed a 90-minute lecture program called Getting Started in the Arts, which outlines the most critical information for industry success. Finally, Peter Sklar has devoted nearly 30 years to the Beginnings Workshop, a seven-day performing arts program geared toward teenagers and children.
